That keeps a language model from choosing your planets, signs, houses, gates, type, authority, or profile. It does not make the written interpretation error-free.
What the three names mean
Gnothia is the brand and the four-lens reading method. Anam Cara Software is Gnothia’s six-area product for using that reading over time. Anam is the chart-aware AI guide inside Anam Cara Software.
What the calculation uses
The chart calculation uses your birth date, your birth time or stated time uncertainty, and your birthplace. Your name labels the reading. It does not change a placement.
Gnothia converts the birthplace into coordinates and the historical time-zone offset for the birth moment. The same clock time points to a different moment in different places.
How uncertain birth times are handled
If you know the exact time, Gnothia calculates one chart. If you give a range, it checks the range at five-minute intervals, including both endpoints. If the time is completely unknown, it checks the full local birth day at the same interval. It keeps only details that stay the same across every checked chart. Rising signs, houses, the Vedic lagna, exact degrees, and any Human Design detail that changes are left out rather than guessed.

Agreement means that more than one counted input supports the same practical theme. A single-lens signal means one lens supports a theme while the others are silent. Neither one proves a fact about you, and silence is not the same as contradiction.
Where the material comes from
Astronomical positions. The Western and Vedic chart paths run through Kerykeion and the Swiss Ephemeris stack. The Human Design position path uses the Python Swiss Ephemeris interface.
The I Ching. Gnothia’s gate library is written from James Legge’s 1882 public-domain English translation. Each gate record holds its source edition, hexagram name, and source link. The developmental language in the reading is Gnothia’s own.
Human Design and astrology. The structural calculations and Gnothia’s own interpretive libraries are separate. The software attaches the relevant library records only after calculating the positions.
Gnothia does not provide a Gene Keys reading and does not use Gene Keys’ published interpretation for the 64. Read how Gene Keys, Human Design, and the I Ching share the same 64-part root.
How the chart becomes a reading
The software calculates
Code determines the planetary positions, houses, gates, and derived chart structure from the birth inputs.
Rules select and group
Gnothia attaches source-library material to the calculated placements, groups shared themes, and preserves single-lens signals.
AI writes the prose
An Anthropic language model receives selected chart data, source material, and writing rules. It turns that bounded material into the reading.
You check the result
Keep what names something you can recognize. Leave what does not fit. The chart does not outrank your direct experience.
The first two steps constrain the material. They do not prove the interpretation. AI can still misunderstand the chart data, flatten a distinction, or write with more confidence than the data supports.
What Anam can use
Anam is the chart-aware AI guide inside Anam Cara Software. A reply can use your chart, the page or area you are reading, the message you send, recent conversation turns, and a summary of older turns.
Anam does not know a fact about your life unless it is present in that material or you tell it. Even then, it is interpreting the available context. It cannot know what another person is thinking, why somebody took a particular action, or what they will choose next.
Relevant chart data and the words you type may be sent to Anthropic to write readings and replies. Provider copies, logs, and backups sit outside Gnothia’s local account record and may follow different retention schedules.
Providers and purposes
- The birth-city string is sent from Gnothia’s server to OpenStreetMap’s public Nominatim service to obtain coordinates.
- Selected chart data and the words you type may be sent to Anthropic to write readings and replies.
- Railway hosts the application and stored files. Cloudflare handles delivery and security. Klaviyo supports email delivery. Shopify handles payment and keeps the authoritative commerce record.
Retention and local records
- Anthropic’s commercial API retention documentation says inputs and outputs are deleted within 30 days by default, subject to different contracts and longer safety, policy, or legal exceptions. Gnothia’s account-specific zero-data-retention status has not been verified.
- A Gnothia data export includes account-linked records and ordinary generated files held in the reading service. Account deletion does not necessarily cause immediate deletion from Shopify's records or from a provider's security, legal, log, or backup systems.
- Gnothia's current Railway Hobby plan does not provide customer-managed scheduled volume backups or point-in-time recovery. Railway's public materials do not state the retention or final-deletion window for platform-level backups.

Three places uncertainty enters
The input or systems
- A missing or approximate birth time can change houses, rising signs, the lagna, exact degrees, and Human Design details.
- One lens may emphasize a theme while the others are silent. Gnothia keeps that visible without calling it a contradiction.
The interpretation
- A calculated placement can be correct while the prose misses you.
- AI can make an unsupported connection or choose the wrong emphasis. Treat the interpretation as a claim to examine, not a verdict.
If a placement looks wrong, contact Gnothia and name the placement or page at issue. Do not send extra personal history. The placement can be compared with the stored birth inputs and a reproduced calculation. That separates a calculation problem from an interpretation that does not fit. A corrected birth time currently requires a new account and reading; it does not rewrite the original in place.
A synthetic worked example
This example uses an invented identity and a fixed public birth moment. It contains no customer data. The numerical fields below were reproduced through the same repository calculation path used by the application.
